FREED BRITNEY
I must confess… I didn’t think this day would come.
I mean, abstractly, I’ve imagined it. Thought about what might happen next. But with every new info dump, or salacious headline, or documentary presenting recently unearthed evidence, the hope I had in my heart that Britney Spears would be able to end her conservatorship as quickly and easily as she was placed under it in the first place… well, hope was all I had. This whole story is so rotten, so corrupt, so morally bankrupt and outright criminal, that while I clung to that hope, admittedly I didn’t have faith.
Of course I’m using some artistic license here when I say that the conservatorship ended as it was begun. The reasons that Britney ended up in a conservatorship are multiple and complex (no documentary has even begun to scratch the surface) and a thirteen year fight to reach this point is far from a “quick and easy” end. But given everything we’ve learned about this case in the last two and a half years, I figured it would have been a much more drawn out process than this. I’m so grateful, for Britney’s sake, that it wasn’t.
